The book departs from critical readings of key political ideas appearing in selected classical works and moves forward explicating authors political and social philosophy-sometimes in the form of minima scripta (short philosophical propositions). The discussion is structured around such analytical categories as scientific methodology and writing style, political participation, stability, change, state functions and actual means of political implementation including current practice. For, at the end of the day past ideas and practices are shown to be always consumable.

Dimitris Kioukias (BSc Athens, MA & PhD Birmingham, Political Science) was born in Athens in 1959. He has taught at the "Hellenic Open University", the University of Birmingham, etc., while he has authored many books and articles. He has been awarded two prizes for his writing (1978, 1999- see "Research Gate" and http://dkioukias.blogspot.com).
