An exploration into the history of the new media performance artist. This dissertation centers around a new classification of the Total Theatre artist as it applies to New Media Art and Performance. The Total Theatre Artist one who is equally comfortable with dance, drama, technology, speech, direction, and music filtered through the ever changing landscape of computer and film technology. This artist is a limitless being, yet little is discussed or researched as to their possible origins, development, preservation or the works that support such artists. Included are a series of conducted interviews with landmark creative and performing artists in the field as well as emerging talents to aid in the visualization my concept and theory.

Mr. Cousin garnered his BA in Dance History/Choreography from Point Park University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. MFA in New Media Art and Performance from Long Island University, New York. Mr. Cousin has created over 60 original dance, theater and new media works.
